Lift Station Service in South Haven, MI
Houses where the water table is too high and the drain field sits up on a hill.
Where the water table is too high for a normal drain field, the county makes you build the field up on a hill and pump to it. That pump lives in a lift station, and we inspect them, repair them and pump them. If your pump works, we use it to move the water and only haul the solids, and the job is $125. If the pump is dead, we are pumping 500 gallons by truck and it costs more, which is a good reason to have us check the pump.

What is a lift station and why does my yard have one?
Where the water table sits too high for a normal drain field, the county makes you build the field up on a man-made hill. Water cannot run uphill on its own, so it goes from your septic tank, usually around 1,000 gallons, into a smaller chamber of about 500 gallons with an electric pump in it, and that pump pushes it up to the field.
If your yard has a mound in it, that is the system, and a pump is doing the work.
Why does lift station service cost less when the pump works?
Because we use your pump. If it runs, we let it move the water down and we only haul the solids off the bottom, and the job is $125. If the pump is dead, we are hauling all 500 gallons out by truck, and it costs more than that.
So a working pump makes your own service cheaper, which is the best argument we have for getting it checked. When we test one, we make sure it pumps the chamber down at a sensible rate and that the install looks right. Have us look at the lift station while we are already there to pump the tank. It is much cheaper to catch a tired pump on a scheduled visit than to find out about it from a backup in February.
Other Septic Work We Do
What it is right for
Houses where the water table is too high and the drain field sits up on a hill. Inspection, repair and pumping.
What it is wrong for
A gravity system. If your yard drains downhill with no pump, you do not have a lift station and never will.

Lift stations Questions
How often should a lift station get checked?
Have us look at it when we pump the tank. It is electric, it runs in sewage, and you do not want to find out it died from the backup.
What towns do you cover for lift station service?
Anywhere our septic trucks go, 50 road miles out of Grand Junction. Pullman, Gobles and Breedsville have no city sewer, so they call the most. The full list is on the service areas page.
Do you also rent porta potties?
Yes, that is the other half of the business. If the problem lives in a tank in your yard, you are on the right page. If you need toilets for a crew or a party, that starts at the porta potty page.
How much does lift station service cost?
$125 when your pump is working, because we use your pump and only haul the solids. A down pump gets quoted on the phone. The rest of the rates are on the prices page.
