About Baylor's
A family company on a blueberry farm in Grand Junction, since 2001.
The business started because another man was tired of driving. Dad worked for a septic company, and the owner's son ran a porta john business. One day the son came into the shop, mad about how far he had to drive to service units up our way. He told Dad there were no porta john companies out here and he ought to go start one. Dad said okay, and a few weeks later he was in business.
Twenty-five years on it is still the family. Dad is the only full time person in the business. Mom does the billing and bookkeeping. I am on the trucks most days, and I have a second job like half the farmers we serve. The name Buddy came from me. It was my nickname as a kid, and customers turned "Buddy's johns" into "Buddy Jons" over the years just by asking for one on the phone.
We work off the family farm on 104th Ave, the house I grew up in, with the barns out back. There are roads around here named after our family. Baylor Road near Bloomingdale used to be the farm's driveway.
How We Work
The thing we are proudest of is that customers do not leave. We have farmers who have been with us since the first year. One of them still runs the very first toilets we ever bought. He bought them off us, and they are still working his fields.
Everything we put in our units is plant based, no formaldehyde. That started years ago, when we land applied what we pumped onto our own farmland. It had to be safe for the ground, and we never saw a reason to change.
Dad is a veteran, and the license on our trucks is SH-1614. If you see a truck with an American flag and an eagle on the hood around Van Buren County, give us a wave.
