Most people have no idea, and it does not matter. We find the corners of the tank, mark them, and measure, and the small truck has a gauge that reads at 750, 1,000 and 1,500 gallons. Most tanks around here run 1,000 to 2,000 gallons, so most pump-outs land between $350 and $700 at our rate.

Fridays. We keep the day clear of routes for weekend deliveries. Pickups run with the route truck, so a Friday drop might come back Monday or Thursday, and you keep the unit in between at no charge.

Sometimes, and we do it when we can. Do not plan around it. For septic that cannot wait two or three weeks, we hold room on Fridays, and for outright emergencies, call whatever the hour.

For a party at a private house, nobody around here has ever asked us for one. Townships and homeowners associations write their own rules, so if you have one of those, a quick call to them settles it. A unit on a construction project is different, and inspectors expect to see one there.

One unit covers a normal backyard party up to about 75 guests. Past that, or past about six hours, take a second, and drinking moves the math up. A stand-alone sink pulls a surprising amount of traffic out of the unit. For farm crews the law sets the count: one per 20 workers, men's and women's separate.
